Ben Aston:
Thank you for tuning in. I’m Ben Aston, and this is The Digital Project Manager podcast. Alexa Huston joins me today. Alexa, thank you so much for joining us today.
Alexa Huston
Thank you for being here.
Ben Aston:
Today we will be discussing process changes and how to make it easier. Let’s first get to know Alexa. Now, I can read your bio. So, I didn’t know you worked at Crema. Is that how it is pronounced?
Alexa Huston
It is pronounced Crema. It comes from the golden layer at the top of an espresso shot. If you are familiar with coffee or have been a barista in past times, this might sound familiar. Many people use Crema. It’s Crema, and that’s fine.
Ben Aston:
Thank you for correcting me. What I found interesting was that when you aren’t at work, it seems like you’re getting stronger. It’s almost as if you’re cooking in the kitchen or traveling. We had just been talking about your travels, but this getting stronger thing. How’s that going for you?
Alexa Huston

Ben Aston:
It sounds very serious. Are you a participant in any competitions?
Alexa Huston
I doubt I’ll ever be able to do that.
Ben Aston:

Alexa Huston
No. No. I do it to be stronger and healthier and to have fun with my boyfriend.
Ben Aston:

However, it started as a time management and writing tutor which sounds like the perfect training to become a project manager.
Alexa Huston
Yes, you could argue that it was an accident. I was fortunate to have a university with a learning centre. I was also a tutor in writing and time management. After graduation, I became a traditional project manager at a marketing agency. This was a position I held for several years. I also had a work-study program in that learning center and was asked to tutor in time management and writing. Although I know that I have, it was something I learned by accident. It’s been two great years learning the ropes of DPM life.
Ben Aston:
Cool, so you’re right, I had a similar story. I started in traditional advertising agencies, then switched to digital. How did it go for you?
Alexa Huston
That’s a great question. I wasn’t necessarily. Although I had worked on a few digital projects at the ad agency, it was not enough. It was helping t
